History of voting system

The First Election was started in year 754 B.C under the government of Spartan Constitution, here all citizens are given opportunity.

Chola Empire around the year 920 in Tamilnadu started voting system called "KUDAVOLAI" system. In this system Palm leaves played a major role, a group of young boys were selected and they have to bring palm leaves according to the population of the village. People used to write their choice of name of the candidate and the leaves were put inside a mud pot this is called  KUDAVOLAI system.

Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India in 1947. In the year 1951 five years plan was implemented and first president was elected. 

Why voting is important ?

According to section 62 of the representation of the people act, 1951 it is stated that "Every person who is, for the time being entered in the electoral roll of any constituency shall be entitled to vote in that constituency". The statement clearly define that a person age greater than 18 must enroll to vote and have to vote.

Voting is important because it is a selection of a strong person to rule us. Voting is very important part in Democratic Countries like India. Citizens vote to a person who represents their ideas and believe the leader ideas. A single vote may change the future of the country, so every vote is important and voting is important. 

Can a single vote decide the future of the country ?

Yes a single vote can change the future of the country example in the year 2004 a congress candidate won just with single vote which turned the future of Karnataka. In the year 2019, Indian general elections only 67% of voters utilized their vote opportunity, remaining 33% (30 crores) voters are not voted. In democratic country like India 30 crores is a huge number which can change the future of the country. most of the voters think what a great change my single vote can do, but a group of single votes can bring a great change. Hence a single vote decides the future of the country.

 "IF YOU DON'T  CAST YOUR VOTE, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT CRITICIZE THE GOVERNMENT" is still debatable.

How to select a candidate to vote ?

Selecting a candidate is the major and important thing in voting. people have to select a candidate by the following qualities

• Good interaction with people.
• Coming out with new solutions to solve the problems of the people .
• Have a good knowledge on the place they rule, etc....
