 History of Tobacco:

The old world encountered tobacco at the dawn of the European age of exploration. On the morning of October 12, 1942, Christopher Columbus set foot on a small island in the Bahamas. Being himself to be off the coast of Asia, The admiral dressed in his best to meet the local inhabitants.

Interesting facts about Tobacco: 

1. Immune system of a smoker is more active than a Non - Smoker, because it has to work very hand. 

2. Smoking causes structural changes to the taste buds on tongue. So in long run smokers can't enjoy the full flavors of coffee because they can't taste bitterness like non - smokers do.

3. The largest anti - smoking ad campaign "Truth" is funded by tobacco companies as part of settlement to be exempted from individual lawsuits stemming from harm caused by tobacco.

4. Worlds ugliest color pantone 448c is used on cigarette packs to dissuade smokers from smoking.



Tobacco plant name: 

By 1565, the plant was known as Nicotaine, the basis of its genus name today. By this time, Europeans were discovering recreational uses of tobacco as well as its medicinal ones.

Worlds No Tobacco day: 

Each year, the World Health Organization (WHO) holds World No Tobacco Day on May 31. Their goal is spread awareness about the risks of tobacco use and how we can make the world tobacco free. 

Roughly 6 million people die from tobacco related aliments every year and that number is projected to rise to over 8 million by 2030. But this is by no means of guarantee. 

Let's use World No Tobacco Day as a launching pad to a brighter and less smokey future.
